Planning, Management and Financing:
SWM COST-RECOVERY MECHANISM
|
|
Summary:
Through the process of implementing Republic Act (RA) 9003 or the Philippines Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000 together with GIZ-AHT SWM4LGUs project partners, various experiences and learnings were realized. These pilot initiatives and good practices were properly documented as part of the project's goal to bridge policy gaps and facilitate replication of best practices. It is also a means to encourage other LGUs and stakeholders to learn from these initiatives and adopt practices depending on their local situation.

GIZ-AHT SWM4LGUs has developed a Toolkit on the various functional elements of solid waste management, which feature the experiences of project partners. These training modules are currently being finalized to be proposed as the standard to be delivered by the National and/or Regional Ecology Centers (NEC/REC) and piloted by Central Philippine University (CPU) as university-based curricular offering. Nevertheless, fact sheets and peer-reviewed publications on best practices or pilot projects are available in this webpage, which you can download for free. We just request you to provide us, through email swm4lgus@gmail.com, some general information about you/your organization for the purposes of monitoring the utilization of SWM4LGUs knowledge products.
These are all documented by the team to inspire others to replicate such experiences while considering the lessons learned through the process. Nevertheless, as promising as these documented reports seem to be, kindly remember that each LGU has its own individual needs. Its adoption may yield different results from one locality to another. Thus, we encourage you to study if any one of these practices can be replicated or customized to your local situation. Thank you for your interest and support !
